Alegria's Full-Time students study the Martha Graham technique at least twice a week for strength, stylistic integrity and emotional depth and groundedness. Alegria's main Contemporary teacher is the outstanding dancer and teacher Patrick Harding-Irmer. Contemporary, or Modern Expressive, is also taught in Alegria's branches by teachers carefully chosen for their understanding of the styles and for their proven ability to encourage students to express themselves freely in their contemporary dancing. Alegria's Contemporary teachers contribute choreography for groups and solos for performance in concerts and competitions, and all Contemporary students get opportunities to perform. From time to time, distinguished guest teachers such as Jane Beckett, Susan Barling and Anca Frankenhaeuser are invited to teach and choreograph.
